International Women's Day fell upon us a couple of days ago and I'm glad to say that the response was amazing. Standing up for yourself also means standing up for all women. I truly believe in feminism and being proud of who you are. Luckily for me, I’m growing up in a world full of inspiring, daring, just, and powerful women that are shaping the girls like me today. But isn't it about time that we celebrate the women that deserve it for all of their hard work?

My mother, aunties, grandmothers and cousins ~ I have an amazing family full of very successful and accomplished women. One of my grandmothers drove off into the country by herself for half a year for no reason other than to have an adventure, one of my aunties has pursued a rewarding career that has a dramatic 17% of women in her line of work. Many a girl wanting to do that job were told that they simply weren't smart enough.

Millie Bobby Brown ~ Millie is one of my biggest idols. She has accomplished so much at such a young age and that is truly inspiring and motivating; Actually, she’s one of the people that inspired me to start blogging as she made me feel like you are never too young or old to do anything. She has done amazing charity work, been involved in the "Time’s Up" movement and is just amazingly supportive of her fans! Millie is more celebrated for her fame and fashion than her actual positive attributes, unfortunately. She’s a great role model for young girls regardless!

Oprah Winfrey ~ Oprah's speech at the Golden Globes was one of the most empowering and uplifting presentation I’ve ever witnessed. Oprah is one of the most inspiring and motivating people and I really hope that she will be leading us more. She is the kind of confident woman that will really guide the world down a brighter path.

May-Britt Moser ~ May-Britt is an amazing Norwegian psychologist. Her Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with her husband recognizes her discovery of grid cells (cells in our brain that are balanced in triangles and hexagons) and how maps are made in the human mind. Grid cells are a very crucial part of our brain; if one is damaged, it damages our memory and understanding grid cells leads us to treating Alzheimer's. She also co-founded the Kavli Institute. A truly inspiring woman that continues her research today!

Mae C. Jemison ~ Mae C. Jemison is an American Astronaut from Alabama. On June 4, 1987 she became the first African American woman to go to space, an achievement for women and also people of colour. I’m sure you knew that, though. She’s one of the women that have shown the world that we are capable of anything and everything!
